Philosophy
Moments of pure relaxation are increasingly hard to find in today's world. While we hold on to our things and our relationships, we also hold onto our stress, our tension and our negative thoughts. One rarely finds the time to truly get away from it all - to escape, to fully let go.
A pillow is light, until one has to hold it up for a while. That is what we do with our experiences, and with our bodies. We can handle our stresses. We can hold on to them for some time. But, after a while they become too heavy. Carrying them around starts to result in chronic pain and suffering. We have to make the conscious decision to let that tension go, and massage can help be a big part of that. It can help release that built up tension in the body-mind.
While the problem of built-up tension is ubiquitous in today's modern world, we as individuals are more unique than ever before. Our myriad biologies, environments, and behaviors combine with our past injuries to create unique blueprints for how and where each of us holds our tension.
To relieve each person's unique tensions, I tailor my work to the individual. No two people are the same, and thus no two massages should be. Sure there are commonalities, trends and standards, but at the end of the day, the most powerful part of massage is the individual. One-on-one devotion can truly reach someone on a deeper level. You will find that an hour of distraction free, self-care with a present therapist can often be life changing.
Offerings
There are dozens of different massage modalities, philosophies, and styles. Technique can vary greatly from one therapist to another. I strive to simplify and clarify massage for those who are uneasy about it, so that they get the most out of the experience, feeling relaxed and comfortable throughout the entire session. All of my initial meetings will include sufficient time to communicate with you regarding the details of your needs and preferences.
To help ensure you get what you want, please select one of the following offerings that sounds best to you.
The Let Go
Designed to help you get to a deep level a relaxation, The Let Go is our most popular massage. Similar to a massage you may have gotten before, this massage uses primarily Swedish techniques combined with subtle energy work. The goal is to help you relax and let go of tension, not only in the body, but in the mind and spirit as well.
This approach is best for people who are unfamiliar with massage, don't know what they want or need, and simply just want to relax. Consider it a vacation for your entire being. One ultimate goal and benefit is activating the parasympatheic nervous system (The part of the nervous system that slows the heart, dilates blood vessels, decreases pupil size, increases digestive juices, and relaxes muscles in the gastrointestinal tract). This will allow your body to cease a lot of the functions that stress you out, and help you reach a deep state of rest and repose where they body can heal itself.

Focused Functionality
Have a chronic or specific issue? Injured shoulder or knee? Maybe your lower back is always tight and in pain, or you suffer from sciatica. This massage approach is perfect for someone looking to improve a certain condition or area of the body. We will take time to assess posture, holding patterns, injuries and activities that focus on specific muscle groups.
A more engaging massage than The Let Go, this practice may require a more active participant, willing to not only communicate more before and during the massage, but stretching and resisting as part of the manual therapy.

Digital Reach
In today's digital world, a lot of us are in front of a computer all day, typing away, or clutching a mouse, a tablet, or a phone. We're encouraged to work as fast as possible, often while hyped up on caffeine, a dehydrating drug. As a victim of this myself, I have an intimate understanding of how poor posture and stress at a desk can effect the human body-mind. This massage focuses on these conditions and helps relax the head, neck, shoulders, arms and hands.
This massage can be done on a table or seated, with or without a shirt on and with or without the use of oil. Great for office visits, or someone who needs a considerable time spent on the areas and intricate muscles that control our arms, hands and fingers.

Wave Balancing
Using the power of stillness, subtle movements and connecting parts of the body for prolonged periods of time, this approach allows me to act as a conduit for your own energy flow. Using the principal that less is more, this approach is less massage and more about moving stagnant energy.
Great for people looking to fully relax the body-mind, get to a meditative state, and connect with their body. This style allows for you to remain dressed and does not require the use of any oil. This practice is somewhat similar to Reiki, however contact and gentle pressure is used along with subtle stretches.

Please inqure within →The Benefits of Massage
At the most visceral level, massage just feels good. I would argue it's your bodies way of saying "Yes, this is good for us, more please." However it doesn't stop there, massage has a myriad of physical benefits. Some include; relieving stress, reducing muscle tension, relieve of headaches, improved sleep, improved cariovascular health, improved athletic performance and recovery, chonic pain relief, stimulation of lymph system, increased circulation and can even help with reducing anxiety and depression. On a deeper level, massage therapy can often trigger and release emotional tension. This might be unexpected and hard to deal with, but like most therapy is uncomfortable and difficult but ultimately does you a lot of good. Feel free to laugh, cry, curse, sigh, moan, groan, smile, or sleep during your session.
While I understand that massage seems like a luxury to many people, I believe it is an integral part of a regular wellness routine. Much like people practice Yoga weekly, or bi-weekly, I believe the true benefits of massage come through when it is practiced regularly and in close succession. You wouldn't expect one yoga class, or acupuncture session, or trip to the gym to change your life - so why should one massage session? I strive to help my clients understand and feel the benefits of regular massage as opposed to receiving once in a while. Talk to me about discounts for packages and committing to a wellness plan.

Being an avid bodywork/massage client, it is rare to find a therapist that meets all of my needs. Robbie has the touch you look for in your journey to healing and relaxation. He is incredibly in-tune with his clients needs both physically and energetically, and adjusts his techniques accordingly. I feel renewed and in a complete state of transcendence after my appointments. He really knows how to kick in the para-sympathetic nervous system. I am so grateful I found his work and highly recommend!

I have had many massages in my life, but none as custom as the one I received from Robbie. He took the time to talk to be before the massage about any areas of concern, evaluated my body during the massage and proceeded to treat each area individually and specifically to the needs of the muscles he was working on. When he finished the massage, he took the time to tell me about what his findings were, and what I can do on my own to alleviate any pain and increase my flexibility. I would whole heartedly recommend his services to anyone!

Many other massage therapists I've gone to are simply doing their job - Robbie goes beyond that. He understands the connection of the mind and body in a way that repairs you on both a mental and physical plane.

Being of the athletic type, a massage for me has always been more about recovery and less about relaxing. When I met Robbie, I was of that same mindset. I had never really had a massage that wasn't aggressive and honestly, painful. This massage was COMPLETELY different. I was able to disconnect from my stressful day and re-align my thoughts. The massage wasn't so much focused on any particular area, it was more about assessing tension points in my body and relieving them. The session ended with him holding my head stationary for a few minutes while I drifted off into a dream state. When he finished, I felt refreshed and ready to take on literally anything. 10/10 would recommend for anyone who wants more than just a massage - Robbie is not only a massage therapist, he re-aligned my soul!

I have a frustrating and persistent lower back issue that makes getting massages tricky and often painful for me. Robbie has really worked with me, listened to my needs, and adjusted his approach to make me feel as comfortable as possible. I leave our sessions feeling so much better because not only is he fantastic at the actual massage, but he also tailors the whole experience exactly to what I need. He deeply cares about his clients' mental and physical well being, and it shows. I always leave feeling amazing!
